Fireworks

Permits Required

The use and sale of consumer fireworks within Westbrook requires a permit. Additional information may be obtained from the Office of the State Fire Marshall's website. 

Obtaining a Permit 

To use consumer fireworks, residents may obtain a free permit online by visiting Maine Open Burn Permit. 

Under Burn Type, please select “Pile-brush/slash/debris 

Select “Westbrook” 

Enter your contact information 

Under Burn Location on the Property- Please enter “Fireworks”  

Under Type of Items, Select “Brush/Lumber (pile less than 10x10) 

Acknowledge the “Affirmation Statement” 

Select “Continue"

Allowable Dates/Times to Set Off Fireworks

In accordance with Chapter 205, Article XVII of the Westbrook Code of Ordinances, consumer fireworks may be used with a permit on the following days/times: 

• July 4, beginning at 9am and ending at 12:30am on July 5
• July 5, beginning at 9am and ending at 12:30am on July 6, if July 5 falls on a weekend. If July 5 falls on a weekday, fireworks may be used beginning at 9am and ending at 10pm. 
• December 31, beginning at 9am and ending at 12:30am on January 1.
