The Westbrook School Committee formally declared the vacancy of an at-large seat at the meeting held on Monday, December 1, 2025. M.R.S 20-A section 2305 requires school committees to select a replacement within 30 days of the effective date of the vacancy by majority vote.
At the October 8th meeting, the School Committee adopted policy BBD Unexpired Term Fulfillment/Vacancies. This policy requires potential candidates to take out nomination petition papers at the City Clerks office. Candidates will have 15 days to take out papers, acquire signatures, and return to the Clerk's office no later than the submission deadline.
Nomination petition papers are available now, Tuesday, December 2nd, for candidates who wish to fill the vacant At-Large seat. Candidates will have to submit papers and a letter of intent to the City Clerk's Office no later than 4:00pm on Tuesday, December 16th . All qualified candidates will have their submissions forwarded to the School Committee for review.

Submission Requirements:
1. For At-Large offices, petition papers must be signed by a number of registered voters of the City equal to at least fifteen (15), but not more than twenty-five (25) from each of the five wards of the City.
2. Letter of Intent which states a brief biography and interest in serving
3. A complete submission (petition papers, and letter of intent) no later than 4:00pm on Tuesday, December 16th
