The Westbrook City Council currently has a vacancy for Ward 1, following the resignation of David Morse as he assumes the role of Mayor. The vacancy was formally announced at the City Council meeting held on December 16, 2024. The City Clerk's office has drafted a memo outlining the process of filing the vacancy, and the memo in its entirety may be view here.
Overview of Procedures:
- Any member of the public residing in Ward 1 may request nomination papers at the City Clerks office beginning December 17,2024 at 7:30AM.
- To be an eligible candidate, you must obtain between 25-50 signatures of registered voters in Ward 1 of the City of Westbrook and submit a letter of intent.
- Completed nomination papers/letters of intent must be submitted to the City Clerk's office no later than December 31, 2024 at 4pm
- Qualified candidates will be reviewed by the Committee of the Whole on January 27, 2025. City Council may then take action at the Special City Council meeting immediately following.
